IPL 2018: MS Dhoni Reveals Why he has Under-Bowled Harbhajan Singh

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has revealed his game plan to under bowl veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. In fact, Dhoni didn’t give the ball to Harbhajan Singh in the first qualifier. Furthermore, the experience off-spinner has bowled only 31 overs in the 13 matches he has played for the Men in Yellow.

The veteran spinner has looked a bit out of sorts as he has scalped just seven wickets in these matches. Moreover, Dhoni revealed that he gauges the match scenarios before picking his bowlers. Dhoni further added that he also considers the batsmen on strike before giving the ball to his bowlers.

Dhoni has the ability to think ahead in the game.

Meanwhile, we all know that Dhoni has the ability to think two step ahead of the match situation. Dhoni’s keep a cool head which also helps in taking crucial decisions with success.

When asked why Dhoni has underused the services of Harbhajan Singh, the Master related it with his bikes in his garage. Dhoni once again came up with a cheeky answer as he said that he doesn’t use all his bikes at a time.

“You know, I have a lot of cars and bikes in my garage. And, I don’t ride all at a time,” as the whole room burst into laughter.

Dhoni further explained that he considers the conditions, “When you have six to seven bowlers in your side, you want to see the conditions. You want to see who is batting and what is needed at that point in time. In the past, we had Negi and Jadeja, and I gave them different slots of bowling. And the unreal thing is that a lot of times the player gets criticised at times for what the batsman is doing”.

MS Dhoni added that he didn’t feel the need to give the ball to Harbhajan Singh in the last match. Dhoni further added that Harbhajan has all the experience which makes him pivotal for the team.

“I always check what is the condition and what is in the best interest of the team than before deciding on the bowler as to who has the best chance to succeed over the batsman. Like in the last game I didn’t feel it was necessary for him (Harbhajan) to bowl. But for Bhajji, he is really experienced when it comes to any format of the game,” Dhoni added.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has all the experience in the world. Consequently, the Chennai Super Kings skipper knows what is best for the team in what situation of the match.

Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the IPL 2018 today at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
