The defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are currently struggling in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after having the worst possible start.
Meanwhile, they are currently at the last spot with only two wins from eight games. As a result, they are on the verge of elimination and can likely become the first team to get knocked out.
The franchise, however, seems to be strict with the discipline among the group which has employed an offbeat technique to make the players attend their gym sessions on time.
The players will have to wear the Emoji’s kit of Mumbai if they don’t follow the gym schedule. The kit is full of blue with the emojis of all the players on it which looks totally funny. Moreover, this is a unique style of punishment and three of their players also became the victim of the same.
Three players punished by MI
Ishan Kishan, Anukul Roy, and Rahul Chahar were the first casualties of the punishment as they reached late to their respective gym sessions. Moreover, MI Facebook handle posted a video of the players wearing jumpsuits as they admitted their mistakes.
“I got to know about it two days earlier, but I completely forgot. So, I missed my gym session,” said Ishan Kishan in the video.
Kishan is the wicket-keeper batsman for the Mumbai team and has played all the games so far. Further, he has also scored runs in the top-order to prove his mettle, however, lost his form in the latter stages.
Rahul Chahar revealed more details into the incident while saying, “Whoever is late will have to wear this special kit. I was late to the physio room. In fact, I never reached. That’s why I have been punished. On the last, we were told to wear jeans, but I wore my tracks. When it comes to punctuality, I am always 10 minutes early.”
Meanwhile, Chahar and Anukul Roy are yet to play a game for the defending champions. They will be raring to go and perform if they get an opportunity.
