IPL 2018: Shubman Gill Thanks Shah Rukh Khan for his Congratulatory Tweet

It was a terrific inning by the teenager, Shubman Gill on Thursday night against CSK, as Kolkata Knight Riders registered their 5^th victory of the tournament.

They defeated the Chennai Super Kings by six wickets and with 16 deliveries to spare to consolidate on their position on the points table. Gill was pushed up the order in the absence of Nitish Rana.

Kolkata needed some stability in the middle order, and the young man provided that to perfection. He was quite exceptional during his unbeaten knock of 57 off 36 deliveries which were studded with six fours and a couple of sixes.

Gill came into the middle when Kolkata was reduced to 40/2. Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa were back in the hut. It was a precarious situation for Kolkata. However, the young man managed to anchor the innings to perfection and remained unbeaten till the end. When the wicket of Rinku Singh fell in the 12^th over, Kolkata still required 77 to win from the last eight.

From there on, it was some exceptional piece of batting by Gill and skipper Dinesh Karthik which ensured Kolkata reached the target without any further hiccups.

Karthik played a stellar knock and remained unbeaten on 45 off a mere 18 deliveries. The innings was studded with seven fours and a solitary six. It was a much-needed victory for KKR. The victory will surely give the much-needed boost, as the tournament reaches the business end.

Early in the day, batting first, Chennai posted a competitive 177 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. The duo got off to a steady start with a 48 runs partnership.

The KKR spinners bowled brilliantly and ended up bagging some crucial wickets in the middle overs. The late impetus was provided by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The CSK skipper looked in ominous touch and remained unbeaten on 43 off just 25 deliveries, an inning which was studded with a four and four gigantic sixes.

SRK lauds KKR for a convincing victory 

Following KKR’s victory, the principal owner of the franchise, Shah Rukh Khan lauded them for brilliant all-round performance. Taking to his twitter handle, Shah Rukh wrote,
