Cometh the Hour! Cometh the Champion!. Retired Australian all-rounder, Shane Watson, displayed his class at the grandest stage of all.
Chasing a tricky score of almost 180, Watto got off to the worst possible start, as he consumed ten deliveries to get off the mark.
However, once he got a couple of boundaries behind him, there was no stopping Watson’s pyrotechnics. The powerful Aussie struck his second IPL ton this season, guiding the men in yellow to their third IPL title win.

“It’s been a special season, to be honest. To get a special season especially after the last season with RCB. It means a lot to be with a franchise like CSK,” said Shane Watson during the post-match presentation.
During his fourth IPL ton, Watson smacked a whopping 11 boundaries and eight sixes in his unbeaten 117, which came off just 57 balls.
“After those first ten balls, I was only hoping to catch up to at least a run-a-ball. Bhuvi is really good with the new ball and was lucky to get the opportunity to catch up. It was good that I got a couple of boundaries to hit and get on par to take it from there,” reckoned Watto.

Moreover, the special part of Watson’s knock was that he was limping midway through the innings due to a niggle in the legs.
Still, Watson managed to remain through till the end of the run chase and take Chennai Super Kings to a thumping eight-wicket win with overs to spare.

“The good thing is that I wouldn’t be playing for the next three-four months; feels great. It gives me plenty of time to recover.”
“Throughout the back end of the tournament I was hanging on for dear life, Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni has been looking after me really well, and I am really glad to contribute like I did tonight,” concluded Shane Watson.
