Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach, Tom Moody has backed his struggling batting order stating that they have played on challenging wickets apart from few games.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad sits at the top of the points table mainly because of their bowlers. They have mastered the art of defending low totals and have the best bowling unit in this edition.

The likes of Rashid Khan and Siddarth Kaul have performed consistently throughout the season.

When Hyderabad lost David Warner at the start of the season, there was a speculation that they might flop. Warner carried the batting order on his shoulder in the last two editions of the domestic professional Twenty league.

However, Kane Williamson, who is poles apart from Warner has led the team from the front.

Moreover, they will face Delhi Daredevils on May 10 at Feroz Shah Kotla to seal a berth in the playoffs.

Tough wickets for batting

While most of the credit has gone to the bowlers as they’ve defended low totals, what has gone unnoticed is that they have bowled on favourable conditions.

Moody, without taking the credit from the bowlers said that the wickets have been hard to bat on.

I don’t want to take credit away from bowlers. They’ve done a terrific job. They keep delivering under pressure. But what we need to recognise is that with regards to our batting, the last five games we’ve played have been on challenging wickets. So, we haven’t had the pleasure of being able to stand and deliver like we’ve seen a few games here in Delhi, Kolkata, and Pune. Our wickets have not been of that nature. They’ve been hard to bat on,” Moody told Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, Williamson has been their top-scorer with 410 runs at an average of over 50.

The SRH camp will look to continue this effort in the remaining fixtures as they eye a playoff spot.

The likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey also needs to come handy to contribute to Hyderabad’s success.

Concluding, Tom Moody as a chief coach has played a significant role in the camp.
