IPL 2018: Virender Sehwag Hails Team Effort for KXIP Success

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team director and mentor Virender Sehwag, has hailed the whole team effort. Punjab outfit has had a good start to the ongoing 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ravichandran Ashwin-led team has won four matches out of the five so far. Thus, they perch at the pinnacle of the Twenty20 domestic professional league’s points table.

It was once again a dominating performance from KXIP as they got the better of home side Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets after Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method came into play.

Eventually, Sehwag praised Andrew Tye for his fine spell of two for 30 in his quota of four overs. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle also continued their fine form at the top of the order.

Chris Gayle scored an unbeaten 60 off 38 balls while KL accumulated 60 off just 27 deliveries.

Karnataka-based batsman Rahul was awarded the Man of the Match for his splendid performance. The flamboyant right-hander smashed nine fours and two maximums and his strike rate was impressive (222.22).

Earlier in the match, Knight Riders had managed to put 191 on board. Punjab was able to make a comeback in the final overs after Chris Lynn gave a good start to the hosts.

The aggressive Australian batsman scored 74 off just 41 balls in scorching Kolkata heat.

The match was interrupted by rain during Punjab’s innings. The visitors had to chase down a modest target of 125 in the 13 overs. The tourists were able to get over the line with nine wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.

Thus, it was a once again a dominating performance from the Men in Red. Punjab has again ticked all the right boxes thus far in the tournament and would like to continue their dominance.

KXIP will now lock horns with Delhi Daredevils at the latter’s home ground at Feroz Shah Kotla on April 23.
