The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has confirmed their talisman batsman AB de Villiers will play for them in the next season of IPL 2019. The South African linchpin had called time on his International career in May, which had sent shocking waves in the world. However, de Villiers was keen to play for his domestic team, Titans.
AB de Villiers had also confirmed that he will be available to play in different leagues across the globe. In fact, AB de Villiers is one of most pivotal players of the Bangalore franchise and holds a key to their success.
“De Villiers will be available for RCB. We have stated our intentions on this matter in the past as well,” Sanjeev Churiwala, RCB Chairman, had said last week.
AB de Villiers will continue to play for the IPL.
On the other hand, South Africa’s former southpaw batsman Gary Kirsten will serve as the head coach of the team. Ashish Nehra has also joined the coaching panel in the Bangalore team.
Meanwhile, former head coach Daniel Vettori, batting coach Trent Woodhill, and Andrew McDonald were removed from the coaching staff.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is yet to savor success in the IPL despite making it to the finals on three occasions. In fact, they have always had a star-studded batting line-up, however, their bowling hasn’t been up to the mark.
They had finished at the bottom of the points table in 2017 whereas ended up on sixth place in the 2018 season. However, they were the runners-up in the 2016 season but lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
RCB will expect AB de Villiers to be fit and firing for them in the next edition of the IPL 2019. If the right-hander gets going, it is nigh impossible to apply break on his innings.
