Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya has mastered the art playing the helicopter shot – a trademark of Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has often played this shot to perfection and earned maximum result out of it.

Hardik Pandya played one such shot during Mumbai’s clash against Delhi Capitals to keep the fans in awe. It was a good length delivery from Kagiso Rabada, and Pandya muscled it over the long-on fielder. His little cameo and well-supported by his brother Krunal Pandya powered Mumbai Indians to post 168 runs from their 20 overs. He smashed 32 off 15 balls to make it tougher for the host who could only manage 128 runs from the full quota.

Pandya’s form will be a massive advantage for India

The Indian National Cricket team all-rounder who has faced a lot in these last six-seven months has stormed back to form in grand style. So far, Hardik Pandya has accumulated 218 runs at a strike rate of 194.64 in nine games and has been very useful for the Mumbai Indians. The Baroda all-rounder played a similar shot against Chennai Super Kings as MS Dhoni watched it from behind the stump.

Pandya revealed that he went to Dhoni after the end of the game and asked if he liked the shot. The former India skipper who doesn’t show his emotions nodded his head in agreement. MS Dhoni has mastered this art and plays it to perfection for whichever team he plays.

I never thought I would play the helicopter shot in a game. I’ve been practising that in the nets. I went to Dhoni’s room and asked him if he liked my version of the helicopter shot. He said it was good,” said Pandya.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has looked in excellent touch which will be a massive advantage for the Indian National Cricket team in the upcoming ICC World Cup in England and Wales. Besides, he has bowled well and will don the role of the fourth seamer in the playing XI. India will start their World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton.
