Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have once again played some outstanding cricket throughout the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They were the first to book a playoff berth and now senior statesman Harbhajan Singh sounded confident to beat Mumbai Indians to progress to the finals of IPL 2019. Meanwhile, Chennai will take on Mumbai later today in the Qualifiers at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

However, Mumbai have defeated Chennai Super Kings in both the league games and will be confident to make it thrice. But Harbhajan Singh feels every match in the tournament is different and the results which have already taken place don’t play a role in deciding the fate of the next match.

He also added that Mumbai Indians have always been extra prepared for their clash against the Super Kings. He also drew examples from the 2013 season to justify his statement the previous results don’t matter in a high-voltage tournament like IPL.

“When I used to play for Mumbai, I remember how charged I used to be before this game. Mumbai is a side that comes to Chennai better prepared than other teams,” Harbhajan Singh told TOI.

“That’s not going to make any difference (CSK’s results against MI this season). Let’s make it very clear, those two losses are history. When I won the title in 2013 for Mumbai, we lost to CSK twice before beating them in the final. So those two losses in the group phase are out of our system,” he added

Will beat Mumbai to progress to the finals

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh who had a good IPL except the last game said that his focus will be on picking wickets to keep their batters silent. Admitting that Mumbai boast quality match-winners, Harbhajan said that they also have quality players in their ranks who can win games on their own. The veteran off-spinner is hopeful that someone will rise and they will book a slot in Sunday’s final.

“We have more than one player who can win a game on his own. I am sure somebody will rise to the occasion tomorrow and we will be in the final,” Harbhajan concluded.
