IPL 2019: India Still Have Time to Include Rishabh Pant in World Cup Squad - Michael Vaughan

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan believes India still have the time to include Rishabh Pant in their World Cup squad. Pant played another blistering knock for the Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator contest against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Capitals required some quick runs in the end and the southpaw played a fine knock of 49 runs from 21 balls.

The combative left-hander was able to score 22 runs of the 18th over which was bowled by Basil Thampi. Meanwhile, when the Indian team World Cup squad was announced without Rishabh Pant, Michael Vaughan has said that the Indian selectors have gone bonkers.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant has impressed with his pyrotechnics. He has the skills to hit the ground running from the get-go and he always bats in the top gear. However, there is no doubt that Pant needs to bat according to match situations as he can throw his wicket away. Thus, Pant is expected to grow in stature when he will gain more experience at the International level.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is in good form in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The southpaw batsman has thus far scored 450 runs in the 15 matches of the season. He has scored his runs at an impressive strike rate 163.64 and average of 37.50.

However, Rishabh Pant could not grab his chance in the Indian team. Pant has had limited opportunities in the One-Day format and he still needs to work on his temperament at the highest level.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals was able to make their way into the second qualifier after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by two wickets. Pant was awarded the Man of the match for his quickfire knock.
