However, the 26-year-old Karnataka-born batsman Rahul revealed he has faced a tough time during the last two month and added all he needs to perform for his team in every possible capacity.
“Selection is not in my hands but I will do all to give myself the best chance. Last two months have been very tough for me,” Rahul told India Today.
The top-order batsman Rahul managed to score run-a-ball four runs Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Tuesday evening. He was dismissed by Dhawal Kulkarni when the outside edge settled into the gloves of Jos Buttler.
However, Chris Gayle 79 (47) and Sarfaraz Khan 46* (29) helped KXIP to post 184 for four in 20 overs. In response, Royals fall short of 14 runs while scoring 170 for nine in 20 overs. Buttler scored 69 off 43 balls with the help of 10 fours and two sixes.
Meanwhile, Rahul, who was the highest run-scorer for Punjab in the eleventh season, fetched staggering INR 11 crore in 2018. He has amassed 659 runs at an incredible average of 54.91 in the tenth edition of the IPL.

Before shifting to Punjab-based franchise, Rahul had featured for Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where he played under Kohli and AB de Villiers’ shadow.
And with the time, Rahul has formed a threatening combination alongside Windies star Gayle.
The talented batsman in Rahul has the potential to play a quintessential role by his sheer consistency. In the recent past, Rahul has exhibited his skills to challenge veterans.
“2018 was magical for me as far as IPL is concerned. With a really good and balanced team, this year also should be good. At RCB I was under the shadow of Virat and AB de Villiers and here I am the number one and that has helped,” Rahul inferred.
With optimistic in approach, Rahul has emerged as a vital cog in the Punjab-based franchise. He has established himself by playing according to the situation, but of late he has faced the heat with a dip in his form.
Meanwhile, KXIP under the leadership of Ravichandran Ashwin will take on Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday (March 27).
