The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opener of yet another exciting edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the governing council announced yesterday.

Meanwhile, the governing council came out with the schedule of the first two weeks of the league. They are still waiting for the dates of the general elections to announce the full itinerary of the league. Soon after the announcement, both the franchises exchanged some Twitter banter ahead of the clash. It has been a nail-biter since the commencement of IPl with both the sides boasting some giants of the game.

With RCB and CSK ready to take on each other at the Chepauk to get the tournament underway on March 23, their Twitter handles have already raised the heat.

A spicy south Indian Derby for starters – but we prefer the sweet sambar…,” RCB tweeted after the fixtures were out.

CSK were quick to respond, “But sambar is always #Yellove in colour no?

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings came victorious twice when they clashed against each other in IPL 2018. MS Dhoni & Co eventually went on to bag the title by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final while Kohli & Co finished sixth with six wins in 14 games.

This season, however, RCB, who are yet to lift the title, will look to turn around their fortune. They have made a few good signings in the player auction held in Jaipur last year. They roped in the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Heinrich Klassen to add more quality to the already star-studded RCB batting line-up consisting of the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis.
