The most significant feature of IPL is that it does not count the number of Indian players who have played international cricket and give as much weightage to domestic cricket. Since its inception, many of the unknown names have given defining performances in the extravaganza, which is one of the prime reasons behind its success.

With lesser-known names showing the skill, bravado, temperament and grit to thrive in challenging situations, it gives confidence to the other youngsters too. As a result, the level of competition keeps on increasing every year. The IPL 2020 has witnessed some faces putting on memorable performances, giving the viewers certain life lessons.

With the IPL 2020 coming to a close, we take a look at best uncapped XI from the same:

Ruturaj Gaikwad:

Ruturaj Gaikwad was part of the Chennai Super Kings’ set-up and bloomed in the second half of the tournament when he began opening the innings. In an otherwise stale season for the yellow army, he provided hope for a bright future.

Suryakumar Yadav has stood head and shoulders above several top draws in the current edition of IPL with his ability to soak the pressure by playing sensible yet explosive knocks. The 30-year old has accumulated over 450 runs while batting at number three.

Ishan Kishan has been yet another crucial player for the Mumbai Indians with his explosive and level-headed gameplay. With over 500 runs in IPL 2020 with four fifties at a strike rate of more than 140, Ishan Kishan has become undroppable from the side. The youngster has created a niche for himself in an otherwise star-studded line-up.

Nitish Rana already had the reputation of being one of the best batsmen in the domestic circuit. Nitish Rana’s fortunes changed in IPL 2020 after the management promoted him to the top-order. The southpaw scored 352 runs in 14 games with two out of his three half-centuries coming while opening the batting. Nevertheless, Rana’s average is the best when batting at number five.

Varun Chakravarthy picked up 17 wickets in 13 games and maintained an economy rate of under seven. The leggie was also the only bowler in IPL 2020 to bag a five-wicket haul.

T Natarajan developed into a yorker machine for SunRisers Hyderabad, filling the gaping hole left by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The injury to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, SunRisers Hyderabad’s pace spearhead was body blow; however, T Natarajan stepped up. The left-arm seamer delivered as many as more than 40 yorkers throughout the tournament, picking up 16 wickets in as many games.

Under the guidance of Kings XI Punjab head coach Anil Kumble, the leggie developed into a gun leg-spinner, outsmarting the best batsmen regularly. In 14 matches, Bishnoi picked up 12 wickets at an economy rate of 7.37.

Arshdeep Singh:

Arshdeep Singh proved quite effective with the new ball for Kings XI Punjab towards the later stages of IPL 2020, gaining appreciable seam movement. The left-arm seamer also introduced subtle variations at the death that ended up confusing the batsmen. In eight matches, he snared nine wickets at 24.22 and would be a special talent for KXIP moving forward.
