IPL 2020: Dwayne Bravo Recalls The Moment When Kieron Pollard Texted Him To 'Pack His Bags And Go Home'

Known as the El Classico of cricket, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians is always a high-intensity contest. There are bound to be heated battles amongst players. Dwayne Bravo has recently recalled one such battle between him and his West Indian teammate, Kieron Pollard.

Both teams have met in the final of the IPL four times, with MI having the upper hand on three occasions. Chennai defeated Mumbai in 2010 final, while MI reciprocated in daunting style conquering the Dhoni-led team in 2013, 2015, and 2019 final.

The rivalry between MI and CSK is well known, and so is the banter which follows between Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard. Both the giants of T20 cricket have had a go at each other whenever they square off.

Recently in an episode of Star Sports’ chat show, titled Rivalry Week in which CSK and MI stars recalled some of the moments between the players of the two teams. Chennai allrounder Dwayne Bravo, recalled an incident when Kieron Pollard had texted him to pack his bags.

Actually, this is the incident of IPL 2012 eliminator, where Bravo picked Pollard’s wicket and gave him a send-off indicating to board the plane back to West Indies. Bravo revealed the reason for such action as earlier Pollard had texted him to pack his bags and go back home.

“Pollard sent me a WhatsApp message saying, ‘Pack your bags. You are going home.’ And I was like ok, no problem. CSK qualified and had to play Mumbai in the playoffs,” Bravo recalled while talking to Star Sports.

“And who was the person going home? Pollard. That’s why I gave him the send-off,” he added.

Meanwhile, CSK side is struggling in the 2020 season as they languish at the bottom of the table.

Their star all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo is been ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury. CSK will face the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Friday in Sharjah.
