Shikhar Dhawan has given an injury update on Shreyas Iyer who ended up injuring his shoulder during the just-concluded clash between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder while fielding. The incident took place in the fifth over of Royals’ innings when Anrich Nortje was bowling to Ben Stokes. The Royals opener punched one down the ground and Shreyas Iyer, who was standing at mid-off, dived over the ball to stop it but landed awkwardly on it.

He managed to save the boundary but ended up injuring his shoulder in the process. He looked in great pain and soon received medical attention from the physio. But it did not make much of a difference as Shreyas Iyer took no chance and walked off the field straightaway. In his absence, Shikhar Dhawan took charge of the team.
The injury looks serious as Shikhar Dhawan had to attend the post-match presentation ceremony too. And the interview started with Delhi’s stand-in captain giving an update on his skipper. Dhawan said Iyer is in pain but his shoulder is moving.
“He’s in pain but his shoulder is moving. We’ll get proper report tomorrow,” said Dhawan.
Delhi move to the top:
As far as the match is concerned, Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 13 runs to return to winning ways. Batting first, Delhi posted 161 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Dhawan top-scored for his side with 57 while Shreyas Iyer scored 53. In reply, Royals finished their innings on 148 for 8.

With the win, Delhi Capitals have moved to the top of the table with six wins from eight games. On the other hand, Royals, who suffered their fifth defeat of the season, are languishing at the seventh spot with just three wins from eight games.
