In a huge boost to Mumbai Indians, their skipper Rohit Sharma hit the nets on Monday. There were huge apprehensions over Rohit Sharma’s participation in the rest of the tournament after he was not named in any of India’s squads for the upcoming tour of Australia.

The Mumbai Indians batting mainstay had picked up a hamstring injury in the left leg during Mumbai Indians’ Super Over defeat to Kings XI Punjab on October 18. He missed MI’s next two games against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on October 23 and 25, respectively.

On Friday, Mumbai Indians said in a statement that Rohit Sharma had made good progress and the franchise is ‘taking one day at a time monitoring the recovery process in consultancy with BCCI’. The statement did not give any indication that the injury was serious but the BCCI’s decision to leave him out of all the three squads for the Australia tour did raise some eyebrows.

But it looks like the right-handed batsman is all geared up to return to action soon. On Monday, Mumbai Indians took to Instagram to post a picture of Rohit Sharma batting in the nets with the caption:

“Just what we love to see! Hitman in action at today’s training ?”

In his absence, Mumbai Indians thrashed Chennai Super Kings by ten wickets before suffering a crushing eight-wicket defeats at the hands of Rajasthan Royals when they failed to defend 195. The defending champions, however, are still at the top of the points table with 7 wins from 11 games.

But they would definitely love to have their captain back in the playing eleven at the earliest. With the playoff spot all but secured, Mumbai Indians would be looking to seal their spot in the top two of the points table which will give them two chances of making it to the final.
