Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Lockie Ferguson has revealed how he hilariously lied to his teammate Pat Cummins ahead of this year’s IPL. The New Zealand star is already in UAE for IPL 2020 while Pat Cummins is in England for the ongoing bilateral series between the hosts and Australia.
Cummins along with others will land in UAE on September 17, just two days before the IPL starts on September 19. Fortunately, KKR’s first game is on September 23 and Cummins, who was the costliest player in the last auction, is likely to be available for selection.
And while the right-arm pacer is in England, it looks like his mind is already in UAE. The conditions in UAE will be challenging for the players. Apart from the bio-secure protocols that all the members of all the eight franchises are required to follow strictly, the players are also having to deal with the hot and humid conditions in the gulf country.
And to take a stock of the weather conditions, Cummins texted Lockie Ferguson but the latter decided to lie. During an interview with the franchise’s official website, the New Zealand star revealed the incident.
“Pat Cummins texted me the other day asking ‘how is the heat,’ and I lied to him saying it’s not too bad. Well, let him come and check it out – it’s pretty bad, isn’t it!,” the bowler said with a smile.

He then went on to lavish praise on Cummins and said that he is looking forward to bowl alongside him.
“Yeah, pace-offs we are surely going to have with each other. I don’t know if you are aware of this fast bowling club. We are always nice to the guy who can bowl at 150kmph! (Laughter).
“Look, Pat is an exceptional bowler, there is no secret about that. He is either the bowler or player of the year internationally almost every year. He seems to be getting better and better and he is still so young. He is a lovely guy and I am thoroughly looking forward to rubbing shoulders with him,” Lockie Ferguson said.
