Ravichandran Ashwin, senior India spinner, has captivated one and all with his fine performances on the international circuit. Although he has not been a regular in the current Indian set-up, Ashwin has been one of the most successful off-spinner for India as he has weaved his magic in SENA countries.

Veteran bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has been an avid follower of the game. It has been years since he has been following the Indian cricket and seen the change in generation. However, currently, one of the cricketer who has stood out for him is Ravichandran Ashwin.

In an interview to Film Companion, when asked about his current favourite cricketer, the versatile actor said: “Ravichandran Ashwin”.

Ashwin continues to struggle to retain his position in the national team. He has been plying his trade regularly for the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), IPL and Raji trophy but in the limited-overs set-up the spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been preferred over him. Even in the Tests, Ashwin played only one match in India’s tour to New Zealand, where he picked up three wickets but was overlooked for the succeeding games.

Ashwin is fourth in the list of most wickets by a India bowler in Tests with 365 wickets only behind Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev and Harbhajan Singh. He has contributed to fore in the limited-overs as well.

The Tamil Nadu spinner will be next seen in action in the IPL 2020. He will be making his debut for Delhi Capitals and already the spotlight is on him after the team head coach Ricky Ponting revealed his concerns about ‘makading’.

Ashwin has 152 ODI wickets 52 in T20Is to his name. He has constantly been experimenting on the bowling and trying to learn new nuances of it.
