The caravan of the 2020 Dream11 Indian Premier League [IPL] rolls on and the 16th match will see Delhi Capitals square off against Kolkata Knight Riders in what should be yet another run-fest at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

We have had absolute run-fests in Sharjah in the two games that have been played at the venue this season. Short boundaries and flat tracks have proceeded to reduce the bowlers into a bowling machine. While in the first game between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals as many as 33 sixes were hit, the second match saw Rahul Tewatia script a redemption for the ages as the Royals went on to chase the highest-ever total in IPL history.

This will be the very first time that Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing a game in Sharjah and with the kind of firepower that both sides’ have in their line-ups, one can expect another high-scoring game tomorrow.

Another run-fest expected in Sharjah as Delhi Capitals square off against Kolkata Knight Riders

The Capitals, in particular, will love batting in Sharjah. Most of their batsmen- Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis- relish batting on tracks where the ball doesn’t stop as it allows them to play across the line. Their batting-unit suffered on a sluggish Abu Dhabi against SunRisers Hyderabad, eventually paving way for their first defeat of the tournament. DC will also be worried about the form of skipper Shreyas Iyer and Shimron Hetmyer- both of whom haven’t really turned up with the bat this season. They will also be hoping that Rishabh Pant converts his start into a substantial knock-on in Sharjah.

Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR], on the other hand, are coming off a dominant win over Rajasthan Royals [RR] in the last game thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by their fast-bowling unit-led by their two rookie pacers in Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti.

Mavi and Nagarkoti displayed why they are so highly rated in the Indian domestic circle as the duo claimed four wickets between them to break the back of RR’s batting-unit. That said, it wasn’t a perfect game for the Knight Riders.

With Sunil Narine enduring yet another failure at the top of the order, the novelty factor behind the move seems to have gone off and it will be interesting to see if they continue with the punt against DC or will they give the likes of Rahul Tripathi a go at the top alongside Shubman Gill. Also, Dinesh Karthik’s form and his decision to slot himself ahead of Eoin Morgan came under the scanner in the last game. Will DK continue to bat higher in the order or will he embrace the role of finisher alongside Dre Russ? We’ll have to wait and see.
