Delhi Capitals will host Mumbai Indians in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. A win will ensure Delhi Capitals a spot in the IPL 2020 playoffs while defending champions Mumbai Indians have already qualified. Delhi Capitals however have looked a bit inconsistent with their performance in the last few matches.

Delhi Capitals have looked like a strong side. Young talents like Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer have mixed-up well with international stars like Kagiso Rabada, Marcus Stoinis to benefit the team from the fore. Experienced Indian cricketers like Ravichandran Ashwin and Shikhar Dhawan further add to the balance of the side. Let us have a look at how the side can shape up.

Shikhar Dhawan

The elegant Prithvi Shaw will partner Shikhar Dhawan as an opener for Delhi Capitals. Shaw will be crucial for the franchise and can help them give a solid start. He has every shots in the textbook and his backlift has often been compared to the great Brian Lara. Shaw, personally, will be expecting a great season for him to impress the selectors before India’s tour Down Under.

India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane had to wait long to find a place in the Delhi Capitals set up. Rahane however failed to make his bat do the talking in the previous match. He got off to a start but did not covert it to a big score. Delhi Capitals will expect Ajinkya Rahane to fire at the best of his capabilities in the next match.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer will be leading Delhi Capitals once again and hope to guide them to their maiden triumph. Iyer is a solid batsman at top of the order and can lay down the foundation for a strong total for his side.

Australia wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey will add composure to the Delhi Capitals batting line-up which has seemingly struggled in the last few matches. Carey has the ability to play quick-fire knock which will come in handy for the side at the top of the order.

Marcus Stoinis

Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has turned out to be a crucial cog in the Delhi Capitals set up. He has scored runs through his quick fire knocks and added depth to their batting line-up. Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer has also relied on Stoinis as the death over bowler, albeit he has not been consistent.

Spinner can win a match in the slow pitches at UAE and Delhi Capitals will back theirs to weave magic. Axar Patel, in such conditions, will be a key in the side which can opt to go in with three spinners.

Delhi Capitals might have their weak link in form of Harshal Patel but to his credit the fast bowler has worked hard. Harshal Patel is the bowlers opposition batsmen will target to the fore but he has worked hard on his game and made his presence felt. Patel has took the ball away from the bowlers with his medium-pace and can chip in with a few wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin has already been making the headlines due to the mankading row with coach Ricky Ponting. He will be the spinner who will continue to lead Delhi Capitals from the front and will have a major role to play in absence of Amit Mishra. Ashwin will be crucial for Delhi Capitals in the slow pitches and can also prove to be a match-winner.

Kagiso Rabada
