Oh IPL! You freaking beauty! You continue to push the envelope when it comes to dishing of cliff-hangers, and by god! Didn’t you just take it to just another level today?

After Rahul Tewatia’s exploits last night, one can safely say that everything is possible in the IPL. And, it was proved to its absolute hilt today as a batting masterclass by the flamboyant Ishan Kishan and a maniac 20-ball half-century by Kieron Pollard nearly helped the Mumbai Indians scale down the total of 201 in 20 overs.

RCB were bossing the game right till the 15th over of MI’s run-chase. With 90 runs required off the last 30 balls, it looked like the Challengers would finally shrug off their recent blues against the defending champions. And, just as we were about to write off the Mumbai Indians, the 4-time winners gave a gentle reminder of why they are the most successful franchise in the tournament’s history.

Kieron Pollard had come into this game on the back of 10 sub-50 scores in the IPL but the burly all-rounder has been in sensational form coming into this year’s IPL, and it was on full display today. The carnage started in the 17th over when the burly all-rounder smashed Adam Zampa for 27 runs. Pollard and Kishan went on a rampage, taking Chahal for three sixes in the next over as the former raced to a 20-ball 50.

Navdeep Saini was brilliant in the 19th over, giving away just 12 runs but Ishan Kishan nearly won MI the game as he smashed Isuru Udana for two sixes in the last over before eventually perishing for 99. Kieron Pollard pulled Isuru Udana for a boundary to take the game to the Super-Over, where Saini once again came good as he gave just 7 runs, which were successfully chased by the duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to give RCB their second win of the Dream11 IPL 2020.

As a result, RCB has moved up to the 3rd spot in the points table with four points in three games while Mumbai Indians find themselves the 5th spot following their second defeat in 3 games.
