SunRisers Hyderabad collected their first points of IPL 2020 by beating Delhi Capitals, who were one of the unbeaten sides so far. SunRisers Hyderabad could not produce a demolishing batting display; however, the likes of David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Kane Williamson did just enough. Following that, the bowlers were on point from the outset, holding their nerves to close out the game.

The elusive opening pair of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner laid the foundation by adding 77 runs for the opening wicket. Warner fell for a gritty 45 while Bairstow dragged himself to 53 off 48 deliveries. The significant knock came from Williamson, who was playing his first game of the season. Williamson struck 41 from 26 deliveries that included five boundaries, striking at 157.69 that was instrumental in guiding the Orange Army to a defendable 162.

As for Delhi Capitals, they lost Prithvi Shaw to Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first over itself. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer played some enterprising shots before Rashid Khan struck twice to remove the ace batsmen. With the Capitals boasting of a deep batting line-up, SunRisers’ bowlers had to remain spot on. Rishabh Pant provided a brief impetus and threatened to spark a turnaround that IPL 2020 has witnessed in the past two games.

However, SunRisers’ death bowling was fantastic and a rookie in T Natarajan’s 18th over probably sealed the game. By defending 163 to reduce the Delhi Capitals to 15 runs short, the SunRisers will gain the much-needed confidence moving forward. Moreover, it is their much-vaunted death-bowling that will gain aplenty. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets in four overs for only 14 runs.
