Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered yet another injury setback with their allrounder Vijay Shankar injuring his back. This comes just days after their Australian recruit Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the entire IPL after injuring his ankle while bowling against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Bowling just his second ball for his new franchise, the allrounder clutched his right ankle after landing awkwardly in his follow through while attempting to stop an Aaron Finch drive. He tried to finish his over but was in visible pain after bowling another two deliveries and soon decided to walk off the field.

Later in the match, he hobbled out to bat at No.10 but appeared in considerable pain and was leaning on the physio as he limped back off after being dismissed on his first ball. Sunrisers Hyderabad later roped in Jason Holder as his replacement.

And Sunrisers Hyderabad have now another injury concern in the form of Vijay Shankar. Before the start of the game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers skipper David Warner confirmed that the allrounder has tweaked his back and was thus not a part of the playing eleven.

“Nabi comes in for Marsh, Saha comes in for Vijay Shankar, who has tweaked his back a bit and Sandeep Sharma misses out as Khaleel comes in,” Warner said at the toss.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have started their campaign in IPL 2020 with a 10-run loss at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore. In that match, Vijay Shankar had an outing to forget as he was out for a first-ball duck.
