Former Pakistan seamer Wasim Akram feels that MS Dhoni will make a strong comeback in IPL 2024. The former Pakistan cricketer also listed four qualities that MS Dhoni has that justify his comeback to the IPL season next year.

The 41-year-old MS Dhoni made an impressive comeback with his team Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023. The men-in-yellow won their 5th trophy in IPL 2023 under Dhoni. Last season, they finished in the second-last position.

I Think MS Dhoni Will Make Strong Comeback Next Year: Wasim Akram

While speaking to Sportskeeda, former Pakistan cricketer and active commentator Wasim Akram said that he feels MS Dhoni will make a stronger comeback next year in IPL. He also listed MS Dhoni’s four qualities that will help him to make a stronger comeback next year.

“I think he’ll come back stronger next year. He has the experience, calmness and is physically very fit. Most importantly, he has the passion to play. No matter how fit you are, if you don’t have the passion, you will not be able to come up with performances,” Wasim Akram said.

The former left-arm pacer also noted that Dhoni did not miss a single match in IPL 2023 and this reveals his fitness and passion for cricket.

“He is physically fit and did not sit out of any matches [in IPL 2023]. After a certain age, making a comeback is difficult. But, knowing Dhoni, if that passion is still there, he will train. Match practice is very important, but I am sure he knows what he is doing,” Akram further said.

MS Dhoni also became the joint-most successful captain with Rohit Sharma to grab 5 IPL trophies in Indian Premier League. Since 2020, Mumbai Indians was the most successful team in IPL with 5 titles. CSK equaled that record in IPL 2023.

The CSK captain played 16 matches during IPL 2023 and shattered 104 runs at a strike rate of 182+. Since Dhoni arrived to bat mostly in the death overs, he got very less deliveries to play. However, he accelerated the scoreboard with his 10 sixes across 12 innings. The right-handed batsman was also unbeaten in 8 innings.
