Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is one of the most devastating batsman in the shortest format. But this year did not give him any chance to display his prowess after being hit by the novel coronavirus pandemic. Dark clouds continue to hover over the T20 World Cup and IPL 2020, with no certainty of the tournaments progressing.
As a precautionary measure, playing the tournament behind closed doors, is being considered. Glenn Maxwell, in an interview to ABC Granstand voiced his opinion on if IPL 2020 and T20 World Cup can be played behind closed doors.

IPL can go ahead, but T20 World Cup can’t: Glenn Maxwell
BCCI, the parent body of the IPL, is keeping the July slot open for the tournament to get underway behind closed doors. Maxwell believes it is possible to play the IPL without crowd but a marquee tournament like T20 World Cup cannot be played or survive in the same circumstances.

“… it’s going to be hard for us to have crowds. I think if IPL goes ahead they can probably survive without any crowds, but I can’t see the T20 World Cup surviving without any people there,” Maxwell told ABC Grandstand.
“It’s going to be hard for us to justify having a World Cup when we can’t get people into the grounds. So I can’t see it happening in the near future. We’ve got to take care of everyone’s health and wellbeing.”
