Dinesh Karthik played a once in a lifetime knock as he helped India lift the Nidahas Trophy. He remained unbeaten on 29 of 8 deliveries. It was just a sublime knock, to say the least. With 5 required off the last delivery of Soumya Sarkar, Karthik struck a gorgeous shot over the cover region to seal the deal for the Men In Blue

Man in form Washington Sundar provided the maiden breakthrough when he induced a false shot from the blade of Liton Das. Yuzvendra Chahal came in to the act with the wicket of his partners Tamim Iqbal. Wickets kept tumbling as Soumya Sarkar also receded back to the pavilion in quick succession. After a brief partnership, Mushfiqur Rahim also went back to the pavilion. Yet again Chahal was the wicket-taker.

Sabbir Rahman, on the other hand, was playing a brilliant knock. Rahman and Mahmudullah shared a solid partnership of 46 runs which eventually propelled Bangladesh to a score of 166 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Mehidy Hasan played a breezy knock of 19 of just 7 deliveries which helped Bangladesh get past the 160 mark.

Chahal was the pick of the Indian bowlers bagging 3/18 in his 4 overs. Unakdat chipped in with a  couple while Washington bagged one. The Indian openers began briskly. Rohit Sharma, in particular, struck a couple of gorgeous shots to begin proceedings. Shikhar Dhawan began with a big six but was soon dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan after making 10 of 7 deliveries.

Rohit Sharma went on to reach yet another half-century but it was a Dinesh Karthik special which eventually mattered for India. Rahul made 24 of 14 deliveries while Manish Pandey struck 28 of 27 deliveries.

Here is what Bangladesh skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan said at the post-match presentation

It hurts but we can learn a lot from this too. All credit to DK. We can take a lot of positives from this game and someday we can come out victorious.”

Shakib is roundly booed as he walks up to have a chat. And it isn’t stopping even when he is talking. The Sri Lankans completely against Bangladesh after all that which happened between the two sides in the last game. Not on according to me.
