Rohit Sharma has handed a huge boost to Mumbai Indians ahead of their Qualifier against Delhi Capitals by giving a promising update on his hamstring injury. The Mumbai Indians sprung a big surprise by returning to action on Tuesday for the game against SunRisers Hyderabad.

He was sidelined since October 18 after suffering the injury during the contest against Kings XI Punjab. Last week, he was not named in any of India’s three squads for the tour of Australia as the BCCI gave an impression that the injury was serious.

However, Rohit Sharma, on his part, never gave that impression. Soon after the squad was announced, Mumbai Indians announced that their skipper has returned to training in the nets. Rohit Sharma was seen batting in the nets on Sunday too before finally making his much-anticipated return on Tuesday.

His surprising return also raised a number of eyebrows as many suggested that the opener was rushing his comeback for the playoffs. However, the Mumbai star has dismissed all the fears regarding his hamstring. Speaking after the SRH clash, Rohit expressed his delight over returning to action before saying that his hamstring is absolutely fine.

“I was happy to be back, it’s been a while. I’m looking forward to play few more games here, let’s see what happens. It (hamstring) is fine, absolutely,” said Rohit Sharma.

SRH thrash Mumbai Indians:

Rohit Sharma could not power his team to a win on his comeback. He could score only 4 off 7 balls as SRH thrashed Mumbai Indians by ten wickets to storm into the playoffs where they will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.

Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians finished their innings on 149 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs. Kieron Pollard was the top-scorer with 41 while Sandeep Sharma impressed with the ball, taking 3 for 34.
