Swede football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been an inspiration to many. Nobody believed in his potential, no one thought he could make it big and in the present day, courtesy of his own efforts and hard work, he is one of most iconic footballer. And premier India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah relates to his story.

In an interaction with his senior teammate Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah revealed how his story relates to the AC Milan star.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not likes to mince words. He likes to speaks his mind even if it means getting his own statue made in Sweden. He has considered himself the best and refers himself as a ‘tiger’, who cannot be compared with human beings. His meekly arrogant attitude makes him stand out among his fans.

Bumrah said, he loves ‘Ibra’, as his story is similar to him. He was also not taken seriously initially but that did not stop him from becoming a star.

 “I love Ibra,” said Bumrah.

“I can relate to his story, that people did not take him seriously and then he became a star. I can relate as I think people took me lightly initially, and then I proved them wrong. I am still trying.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not gets bogged down by failure. He is an athlete who fights no matter how difficult situation gets. And Jasprit Bumrah takes inspiration from the fact that, when “he gets hit, he smiles”. It has also helped Bumrah mould himself and learn better aspects of life.

“The communication was difficult initially,” said Bumrah. “He taught me the mindset – when he gets hit, he smiles. I used to get annoyed at the beginning, but he explained there is no point getting angry.”
