Australia head coach Justin Langer has given positive assurances following the reduction of the support staff within their setup. Cricket Australia have faced plenty of upheavals recently having sacked their batting coach and Chief Executive Kevin Roberts vacating the spot after holding it for 20 months. Earlier, the Board had already laid off 80% of their staff.

Langer, who himself received a pay-cut, assured that there is less staff available; however, players would get enormous support. The Western Australian confidently stated that even amid the crisis, we would assist the players in equipping, adapting, and providing them with the required services.

No one could ever criticise me for not wanting to roll my sleeves up and do some work. We will certainly have less staff on the road with us, but the guys will still get great support. Whether it’s remotely; as we’ve seen over this COVID period, there’s a lot of support that can be given and serviced remotely. We’ll all survive. We’ll be a bit leaner and sharper, that’s for sure, but we’ll survive, we’ll adapt, and the players will still get the service required.” Justin Langer stated as quoted by Cricket.com.au.

The 105-Test veteran went on to sing words of praises for Graeme Hick, lauding his work ethics, knowledge of the game, and claimed him as a person of honesty. Hence, it was a ruthless call; however, Justin Langer hinted that men like Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh might come to the fore for some high-profile series.

“He’s a ripping human being, there’s no doubt about that. You won’t meet a person of greater integrity than Graeme Hick. His worth ethic is unbelievable, his knowledge of the game is unbelievable, so it was a really tough call.” the 49-year-old added.
