Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul picked up in IPL 2020 from where he left off as he is in a red-hot form this season. With a century and fifty in three matches so far, the Orange Cap is firmly under KL Rahul’s grip at present. The franchise owner Ness Wadia thinks that the keeper-batsman could soon lead the national team too.

KL Rahul remained in a scintillating form before all the cricketing activities in the world came to a standstill. The 28-year old enjoyed ah highly successful white-ball tour of New Zealand where he bagged the man of the series award in the five-match T20 series. He even revealed to be afraid of losing his touch; however, has instead come back as a better batsman.
Ness Wadia remains confident that KL Rahul is a captain in the making and remembers watching Virat Kohli, thinking like a leader. Wadia added that when a cricketer is a wicketkeeper, they automatically contemplate a lot and addressed that their role is to keep encouraging their captain and keep giving him more confidence. KXIP lost last night to Rajasthan Royals, conceding the highest-ever run-chase in IPL in which the skipper shared a mammoth 183-run opening partnership with Mayank Agarwal.
“He is a captain in the making. I have watched Virat, thinking like a captain.” And when you’re a wicket keeper you automatically think a lot, so it’s going to be amazing. Our role is just to encourage them and give them more confidence,” Wadia stated as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“As one can recollect we went very strong for KL Rahul in the auctions” : Ness Wadia
Ness Wadia went on to recollect the time when they went hammer and tongs in 2018 to secure KL Rahul’s services. Wadia pointed out the Karnataka cricketer’s versatility, having the ability to bat at any position required apart from keeping wickets.
“As one can recollect we went very strong for KL Rahul in the auctions. Show me a more versatile player in Indian cricket at the moment. He can open, he can go down to number four, and he can go down to number six. At every point of that chain of the 11, to add he is also a wicketkeeper,” he added.
