KL Rahul Is Short-Term Solution For T20 World Cup: Parthiv Patel

KL Rahul has excelled for Team India as a wicket-keeper batsman in the recent times. He proved his prowess while opening the batting and also down the order to cement his place as India’s first-choice wicket-keeper batsman over Rishabh Pant. Rahul was brilliant during India’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year.

Rahul had notched up a century and solitary half-century in the ODI series against New Zealand while in the shortest format he played important knocks with the scores of – 56, 57*, 27, 39 and 45. However, even after all the efforts, senior India wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel believes Rahul is only a temporary solution for the national team.

Parthiv Patel: KL Rahul will do the job for the World Cup

Parthiv Patel has put his weight behind Rishabh Pant, saying he has it in him, and KL Rahul is only a temporary solution. The Gujarat Ranji team captain also suggested KL Rahul will do the job for the national team in the T20 World Cup.

“At this point of time, KL Rahul. I feel Rahul is your short-term thing in a way if you’re thinking of the World Cup. I think he’ll do the job for you during the World Cup, there’s no doubt about it,” Parthiv Patel said in the latest episode of ‘Lockdown But Not Out series by FanCode, Parthiv Patel’.

“Rishabh Pant definitely has it in him, there’s no doubt about that. If I put myself into his shoes when I was 17-18, I didn’t have a good series, and going back to domestic cricket for a couple of years helped me a lot. Every time I’ve met Rishabh, I’ve always told him that people are talking about you because you’ve talent in you,” Patel explained.

Rahul averages over 45 in the shortest format and has two centuries and 11 half-centuries to his name.
