Doesn’t matter what, if India plays a series against any team across the cricketing world, the hopes have mostly relied on batting mainstay Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, the legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar doesn’t want to focus totally only Kohli.

The Mumbaikar Tendulkar added he wants Indian to do well as a unit rather than being based on a solitary performance.

Why only Virat? asks Sachin Tendulkar:

Pertinently, Kohli had a disastrous tour when India travelled England in 2014. Though Kohli brought many laurels to India, the series has always been the most-talked point of him.

However, Tendulkar feels the past experience has got nothing to do with Kohli’s performance in upcoming matches.

“Virat’s 2014 performance has got nothing to do with how he would perform in the upcoming series. And it’s not just about Virat’s performance. If you ask me if I am hopeful of a good show from Virat, my answer would be “Why only Virat? I am hopeful of a good show from the Indian team. It’s the team that needs to perform well,” Tendulkar said while speaking to PTI on Saturday (July 21st).

Despite all the concerns of the cricketing pundits and fans, Kohli did fairly well in the One-day International series as far as individual performances are concerned.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury is a big setback: Tendulkar

Tendulkar further cites the injury of Bhuvneshwar is a big hindrance for the Indian team. He recollected the impact created by Bhuvneshwar in the previous tour with his all-round performances.

However, Tendulkar is confident of doing well with the pace quadrant being filled with speedster Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.

“Bhuvi’s (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) injury (stiff back) is a real setback for India. I for one was expecting a lot from him. He has over the years performed at a level that you expect a certain kind of performance from him. With his ability to swing the ball, he was going to be very critical to India’s scheme of things during the Test series.,” he said.

Tendulkar also sheds light on how Bhuvneshwar played a pivotal role with the bat in the lower order, for India in 2014.

“And let’s not forget those runs that Bhuvi scored in England during the last series (2014). He is a decent enough batsman, who could string those partnerships at the back end of the innings. But then, I believe that we still have a lot of quality in our pace department (Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur),” Tendulkar concluded.

However, as Tendulkar reiterated, Kohli is not the sole person to take the burden of the Indian team as it has to be a team effort. Conclusion, Bhuvneshwar’s all-round services will be missed.
