Krunal Pandya and Hardika Pandya have gone on to become two mainstays for their Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise-based team, Mumbai Indians (MI) over the years.

While Mumbai roped in Hardik for a base price of 10 lakhs in 2015, they had to spend Rs 2 crore next year for Krunal.

Since then, both of them have been an integral part of the franchise. MI retained Hardik prior to the auctions for this year, while they used Right to Match option for Krunal.

They have remained the core of the team since they have started playing for them.

Just like his brother Hardik, Krunal is also in contention of playing for India soon and is a part of the India A side for the tour of the UK. It is his second overseas tour with the India A side, with the first occasion coming last year when he went to South Africa.

Krunal reveals a childhood story

Both the brother shares a good rapport with each other both on and off the field. They have shared some delightful moments since their childhood and Krunal revealed one such incident.

The cricketers recently attended a show named ‘What the Duck’ where he revealed the sarcastic story.

It was a story from 2003 when Kenya Cricket team thought Hardik is from Kenya and is not an Indian. They also gave him an autograph thinking that Hardik is from their country.

In 2003, Kenya team came to Baroda for practice to prepare for the World Cup. Kenyan players were waiting for the bus. Hardik looked like a Carribean child and not an Indian. Kids were going to players to get their autographs but no one was giving. Suddenly, they saw Hardik and among all, they gave their autographs to him because they thought that Hardik was from their hometown. They were like get this boy first, let us give him an autograph,” Krunal noted.

Both the players are now set for their next assignment. For Hardik, the next challenge is the historic Afghanistan Test while Krunal will be off to the UK for India A duties.
