New Zealand’s young fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has credited Auckland return for his improved on-field behaviour and also for New Zealand national team call-up. Jamieson received his maiden ODI call up in the recently-held series between India and New Zealand. He surprised everyone with his performance and grabbed the Man of the Mach award on his ODI debut.

He was a key figure in the New Zealand squad that clean swept India in the ODI series and gave them a perfect payback of the clean sweep in the T20 series. India suffered a humiliating loss by the hands of the Black Caps in the ODI series by losing 3-0 in the series.

It was the first time in 31 years that the Men in Blue were whitewashed in a three-match or more bilateral ODI series.

Kyle Jamieson Opens Up On His Controlled Behaviour

“There was a bit of negativity surrounding myself and that environment and that was coming out in my behaviour on the field,” he said.

“I wasn’t really liking the person I was on the field as well, so it was just a shift that I needed to make. Most importantly, I needed to be happy and I needed to enjoy my cricket. Wherever that may take me, then it will. It [the move] has certainly paid off. I’m very happy at the moment,” Jamieson added.

The 25-year-old, who spent time in Australia with the Black Caps late last year as injury cover, said none of his international honours would have been possible without returning to Auckland.

“It’s been massive. I’m really enjoying my cricket, which is probably something I couldn’t say a couple of years ago,” Jamieson said.

“I was going through a bit of stuff off the field. Just the chance to come in with this group and turn up and learn every day – try and better myself as a cricketer – was something that was too hard to turn down, so look, it’s been massive for my game,” the young fast bowler added.

India and New Zealand will now lock horns in two-match Test series. The Tests will prove to be the decider as scores are now level with both the teams winning a series each.

The first game of the series will begin from February 21 at Wellington. India is the highest-ranked Test team in the world and will look to dominate the Kiwis on away soil.
