Kyle Mills, Kolkata Knight Riders bowling coach, has revealed why ace Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav didn’t make it to the Playing 11 against Chennai Super Kings [CSK].

Kuldeep Yadav has been benched in the last two games of the 2020 IPL and has bowled just nine overs in the tournament thus far.

Mills was asked about the thought process behind leaving out Kuldeep Yadav from the playing 11. The former Kiwi International alluded to the size of the ground as one of the key reasons behind Kuldeep getting dropped from the set-up.

“Kuldeep is one of the best spinners in the world. But just with the make-up of the group at the moment and the size of grounds, it’s the reason we went for this XI today and Kuldeep was left out,” Kyle Mills said in the post-match press conference.

“But Kuldeep is training the house down. He wants to get back into the starting XI, so competition within the group is certainly aiding our performance on the park,” Mills further added.

This is not the first time that Kuldeep Yadav has been overlooked from KKR’a starting XI. The chinaman bowler has failed to nail down a permanent spot in the playing 11 since his struggles in the last edition of the IPL.
