Jason Holder became a victim to the genius that is Rashid Khan in the 57th match of the IPL 2022 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on May 10, 2022.

The top two ranked teams met in their second meeting and the KL Rahul-led side was looking for revenge after Hardik Pandya’s men had defeated them in their first meeting of the IPL 2022. The winner of this match will confirm their spot in the IPL 2022 playoffs as well.

KL Rahul’s LSG bowled first after losing the toss and took advantage of the bowler-friendly Pune track to keep GT to 144/4. Shubman Gill was the top-scorer with 63* in 49 balls with 7 fours. David Miller contributed 26 in 24 balls, while Rahul Tewatia added a quick 22* with four boundaries to their name.

Avesh Khan with 2/26 was the best bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants.

LSG would have been fancying their chances of making it into the playoffs having set a 145-run target. However, the Gujarat Titans bowlers were wiser after watching LSG bowlers bowling on this Pune pitch and hit the right notes and lengths from the start.

Deepak Hooda top-scored with 27, while Quinton de Kock and Avesh Khan were the other two to go past 10-run mark. R Sai Kishore on his Gujarat Titans debut and Yash Dayal on his return picked two wickets each, while Rashid Khan led the way.

KL Rahul (8), Karan Sharma (4), Krunal Pandya (5), Ayush Badoni (8), and Marcus Stoinis (2) were back in the dugout in a blink of an eye as Rashid Khan then accounted for the dangerous Jason Holder.

On the last ball of the 12th over, Rashid Khan bowled one at the middle stump and Holder went on the backfoot to counter the wrong’un. However, it was a rare leg-spinner from the Afghan spinner and he was caught plumb LBW.

In the end, Rashid Khan finished with figures of 4/24 as Lucknow was bowled out for 68 runs and lost the match by 62 runs. Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in this IPL 2022.
