Manjot Kalra rose to fame with his magnificent unbeaten hundred, as he guided India to their fourth ICC U19 World Cup title.
Prithvi Shaw entered the coveted list of captains after Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, and Unmukt Chand to lift the title. As of Shubman Gill, he is already considered to be as the prospect of Team India. Gill was awarded the player of the tournament for his brilliance with the bat.
Praises flooded in from all corners of the world, as Shaw lifted the trophy. However, it was their parents, coaches, and relatives who were delighted by the success of their dear ones.
Kalra’s father, Praveen Kalra was elated to see his unbeaten knock in final against Australia. He stressed that Manjot would go on to become a great player for the country.
“We are proud of him. Manjot will keep on performing like this. He will prove to be a good player for the country in the coming times. Our good wishes are with him,” Praveen said to ANI.
Off-spinner Abhishek Sharma’s father stated it was the happiest day of their life. He was elated by India’s success. Sharma’s further longed for his son to do well in domestic cricket and play for the national team.
“This is the happiest day of my life. India won the game one-sidedly. Abhishek is very determined. He used to ask me to make him practice to the level of high-class cricketers. I would now wish he performs sincerely in every match and tournament he plays. Including the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, and play for the Indian team in the future,” he said.
Indian head coach Rahul Dravid also deserved credit for the team’s success. Dravid guided the team and helped to build a strong squad going into the World Cup.
