Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Trent Boult expressed his desire to play for New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He also opened up about his performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and revealed his plans for the game against Mumbai Indians.

Trent Boult has been one of the finest pacers to play for New Zealand in cricket. But of late he hasn’t been part of the national team’s setup as he opted out of New Zealand’s central contract to take part in T20 leagues across the globe.

But with ICC World Cup 2023 around the corner, New Zealand would be eager to get him back for the tournament, considering his ability to turn the game with his brutal swing bowling.

Boult himself is keen to play the event and said that if things work out well he’ll be there in one of the biggest events in the calendar. Speaking to reporters, he said:

IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)

“Of course, (I am) desperate to play in ODI World Cup – it is one of the biggest events in the calendar. My sole focus is on IPL at the moment and if things work out (well) I am 100 per cent I want to be there.”

Boult also went on to lavish rich praise on Rajasthan Royals youngsters in Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, saying that they are confident. He added:

“Those guys are just confident. They are realistic, they go out and play their natural game. It has been great to come here early and I have seen the hard work that has gone in prior to the IPL start. They played with freedom and played some great innings. Yashasvi is an incredible find and the one to watch out for India as well – he has played some great knocks already.”

MI vs RR: “Wankhede (Stadium) is one place where I have enjoyed bowling in the past,” says Trent Boult

Rajasthan Royals are next slated to lock horns with Mumbai Indias in their next game on Sunday (30th April). With the game slated to take place at the Wakhede Stadium, it is expected that Trent Boult will play a crucial role for his side.

Boult said that he’s trying to pitch the ball up and Wankhede is a place he loves bowling. He also added that they are eyeing the top two spots. He added:

“I am just trying to pitch the ball up. There has been a little bit of swing around and Wankhede (Stadium) is one place where I have enjoyed bowling in the past. I just try to keep it simple, and try to be as aggressive as far as possible.

“It is everyone’s race. There have been a few great games so far and (we are) only at the halfway mark. Every team is pushing for those eight or nine wins to hopefully get to the top two but we are just taking it game-by-game.”

Trent Boult so far has taken 9 wickets in the 6 games he has played at an economy of just 7.95.
