It doesn’t matter how New Zealand cricketers never stops surprising the cricketing fanatics with their fielding efforts. Over the years, they have been sensational on the field and the current team has taken that to different heights. The latest to showcase his brilliance on the field is Mitchell Santner, who flew to his right to dismiss the Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
It was in the 5th over of the innings when Hamish Bennett bowled a pacy delivery on the stumps. Kohli tried to work it towards mid-wicket but all he managed was a leading-edge, which was about to fall in a no-man’s land. But, then came the surprise when Santner leapt in the air to finish a sensational catch for New Zealand.
Virat Kohli scored 11 off 9 balls:
It was a second consecutive failure for Kohli in the series. With Rohit Sharma staying away from the game and Sanju Samson getting out for a cheap score, the Indian management expected Kohli to stay with in-form KL Rahul but it wasn’t the case. At the end of the powerplay, India managed to score 51 runs at the expense of Sanju Samson and Virat Kohli.
Earlier in the day, New Zealand won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. The home side made a couple of changes, as they bring in Daryl Mitchell in place of Colin de Grandhomme and Tom Bruce in place of Kane Williamson, who sustained an injury to his shoulder.
India made three changes as they rest Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami. The youngsters Sanju Samson, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar gets a game.
”The team is playing so amazingly well. It’s just an opportunity for the guys who are gonna play this game and the next one to take the momentum forward,” Kohli said at the time of toss referring youngsters.
