Australia middle-order batter Travis Head has become the world's No. 1 Test batter. In the latest update of ICC Test rankings, Head moved to the top after England's Harry Brook slipped following the Nottingham Test against New Zealand.
The latest rankings also rewarded several New Zealand players after their Test series win over England at Trent Bridge. Their strong performances boosted their positions in the ICC rankings and strengthened New Zealand's hopes in the World Test Championship standings.
Travis Head Becomes World's No. 1 Test Batter
Travis Head has climbed to the top of the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time in his career. He replaced England's Harry Brook, who dropped to second after a quiet outing against New Zealand. Veteran England batter Joe Root also slipped two places to third.
Several New Zealand batters made big gains after their series win in England. Rachin Ravindra moved up two places to seventh, Daryl Mitchell climbed five spots to 11th, and Devon Conway jumped 14 places to joint 15th. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has jumped to 6th spot.
New Zealand captain Tom Latham also improved by 12 places to joint 31st in the batting rankings. Fast bowler Nathan Smith rose eight places to 38th in the bowling rankings after his impressive performances during the series.
Jasprit Bumrah at No. 1 Test Bowling Ranking
Jasprit Bumrah has regained the solo No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after New Zealand pacer Matt Henry slipped to second. The close battle between the two bowlers shows how competitive the ICC Test bowling rankings remain.
The latest rankings also rewarded several West Indies bowlers after their Test series win over Sri Lanka in Antigua. Shamar Joseph climbed nine places to joint 14th in the Test bowling rankings, while Kemar Roach moved up four spots to 17th after impressive performances throughout the series.
Former England captain Ben Stokes also moved up two places to third in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings after his final Test against New Zealand. Stokes retired from international cricket following the Trent Bridge Test.
The ICC rankings saw several changes following Test matches in England, and the West Indies. Strong performances across these series reshaped the batting, bowling, and all-rounder rankings in the latest weekly update.
