The tallest player to have ever played cricket, Mohammad Irfan recorded the most economical bowling figures in the history of T20 cricket in a Caribbean Premier League match. However, despite his breathtaking spell, his side Barbados Tridents eventually lost the match by 6 wickets. Apart from Irfan’s magical spell, there were not many bowlers who supported him well. It eventually helped them chase the target of 148 down in the final delivery of the 19th over.
Irfan bagged a couple of wickets in his four overs. However, the most surprising things was he conceded just a solitary run in his four overs spell. It is exceptional indeed. In whatever format of cricket, you are playing a spell of 1/2 in 4 overs is simply world-class. He also dismissed swashbuckling Windies opener Chris Gayle in the very first delivery of his spell.
Despite his spell, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots went on to chase the target down with 7 balls to spare to win the match by 6 wickets. The only run conceded by Mohammad Irfan came in the final delivery of his magical spell.
“I’m really happy. I would’ve been happier if the team won, but I am happy that I bowled one of the best spells in T20 cricket,” Irfan said.
“I liked bowling on the lively wicket, and I get extra bounce because of my height. So yes, a satisfying performance,” Irfan further added. He also took to his twitter handle to thank his Caribbean fans for the love and blessings they have showered on him. Irfan will definitely cherish this moment for the rest of his life.
Taking to his twitter handle Irfan wrote, “Truly honoured & humbled to make the world record for the most economical four-over bowling figures in the history of T20 cricket: 4-3-1-2. Thanks, @CPL & @BIMTridents. Also, I can’t say it enough but Caribbean people are pure love. #SayaCorporation @TalhaAisham,” Irfan wrote.
