Rajasthan Royals (RR) claim the must-win match in style against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in style in Jaipur on May 19. They secured valuable 2 points to remain in the race for the play-offs in the ongoing IPL 2026 season.
With the fantastic win tonight, they are now in 4th place with 14 points from 13 matches. They claim the number four spot, surpassing the Punjab Kings. In their last group stage fixture, the Rajasthan Royals will be up against the Mumbai Indians on May 24.
Can RR able to make their stride into the play-offs?
From this position, can the team from the Pink City of India able to confirm a berth in the next round? Despite the emphatic win over the Lucknow Super Giants, some boxes are yet to be ticked.
The Royals currently have 14 points; if they defeat the Mumbai Indians as well, then they will have 16 points in total. Ideally, 16 points are considered enough to make the way into the round of four.
At the end of the group stage, if they manage to pocket 16 points, then they can qualify straightaway into the play-offs without any further complications. But if they missed those two points against the Mumbai Indians, then the scenario could be different for the Rajasthan Royals.
Qualification scenario for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026
If Rajasthan finishes with 14 points, then they will need to see Punjab Kings dropping at least one of their games, Kolkata Knight Riders losing at least one of their remaining matches, and Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to lose so they do not overtake RR's points or NRR.
In case multiple teams finish the group stage hurdle with 14 points each, then the Net Run Rate will decide which team will qualify for the next round of play. As of now, on the basis of the Net Run Rate, a tough competition is expected to see between RR, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals in the final lap of the group stage.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi again, brilliant!
Tonight, the batting department of the Rajasthan Royals was in top form, mostly because of the magnificent knocks played by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel. LSG set a massive total in the first innings. Riding high on Mitchell Marshe’s 96-run knock, they registered a total of 220 runs in 20 overs, in exchange for 5 wickets only.
The target was not easy to get, but as the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was on song tonight, Rajasthan claimed the total with ease. Like Marsh, Vaibhav also missed his century, dismissed for 93 off 38.
His blistering knock was laced with a staggering number of ten 6s and seven 4s. In the middle, he got some much-needed support from Dhruv Jurel, who remained not out for 53 off 38. Rajasthan won the match by 7 wickets and 5 more balls to spare.
