Pakistan made a head start with a ODI series triumph over Sri Lanka at home after Misbah-ul-Haq took dual role as head coach and national selector. However, Pakistan then got whiteswashed by the visiting Sri Lanka side in the T20Is.
Misbah-ul-Haq’s initial period as coach and national selector has not been a happy one. He has been criticised all end up by former players.
Mohammad Yousuf feels Misbah-ul-Haq has ‘no planning’
Pakistan batting great Mohammad Yousuf is unhappy with the way Misbah-ul-Haq is managing the team. He feels one man has been given too much responsibility and he has no planning at all.
“I just don’t understand why give so much responsibility to one man and I don’t see any planning in the way Misbah is handling things,” Mohammad Yousuf was quoted as saying by GTV news channel.
Babar Azam is class apart: Mohammad Yousuf
Mohammad Yousuf was of the opinion that he has not seen a better player since his retirement. Azam is class apart and can be relied across formats. He has also been consistent for the national team.
“Babar is a class apart from the others right now. That is why he is in the ICC’s top five rankings in all three formats. Personally, I have not seen a finer batsman in Pakistan than Babar since I last played for the national team,” Yousuf said on GTV News Channel.
Yousuf, however, added that it is not wise to compare Babar with Indian swashbucklers Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have already achieved a lot in international cricket.
Maintaining a brilliant average, Azam has scored 1850 Test runs, 3359 in ODIs and 1471 in the shortest format of the game. At 25, Azam is set for a brilliant future, if he continues to play at this rate and builds on his game.
