The addition of the No.1 ranked Test bowler in Pat Cummins and the World Cup-winning captain in Eoin Morgan will add a lot of depth to the team, feels Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins were two of the hottest buys of the 2020 Indian Premier League. While Morgan was racked up for a sum of Rs 5.5 crore, KKR shelled out a whopping Rs 15.5 crore for the Australian pace spearhead Pat Cummins.

Both Morgan and Cummins have previously featured for KKR in the past but with the duo at the height of their powers currently, their addition is set to make a bigger impact this time around as compared to the past.

”One of the things we were looking for the team was leadership quality in the group. Brendon and Dinesh were very upfront about it. We thought Morgan and Cummins could add a lot of value. One is a World Cup winner and the other is the No. 1 Test bowler and vice-captain of Australia. This is what we needed. Hopefully, we will have a great season,” Abhishek Nayar told Sportstar.

Besides the overseas stars, Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR] have a good mix of young Indian talent in the form of Shubman Gill and the pace duo of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi.

Nayar is pleased with the fact that the duo, especially Nagarkoti has finally attained peak fitness and he is looking forward to the tearaway fast bowler making an impact in IPL 2020.

”All the kids are good within the aspect. Kamlesh, Shivam (Mavi) and all of the boys know the way in particular they’re and what they will do. I believe it’s nice that Kamlesh is match fit and hopefully he’ll stay match fit for the IPL. Personally, I might be very pleased to see the child lastly getting to play after two years. These are thrilling occasions forward,” Nayar said.

Both Mavi and Nagarkoti were picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR] in the 2018 IPL auctions following their exploits in the U-19 World Cup. But, while Shivam Mavi did make his debut in the 2018 edition and played a few games before getting injured, Kamlesh Nagarkoti is yet to make his IPL debut.
