Security has been increased at former India skipper MS Dhoni’s farmhouse in Ranchi following rape threats to his five-year-old daughter Ziva. The threats came after Chennai Super Kings’ narrow ten-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL 2020.
Following the game, the trolls recently targeted MS Dhoni’s five-year old daughter. The trolls gave threats of rape and physical violence to the little girl while venting their frustration over her father’s indifferent display on the field. The threats allegedly appeared on MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi’s Instagram accounts.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the police has beefed up the security at the player’s farmhouse. Police said that besides increasing patrolling, some personnel in civil clothes have also been deployed near his farmhouse to keep a close vigil on suspicious elements.
MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi and daughter have been staying in their farmhouse while he is playing the tournament in UAE. According to police, besides deploying static force, regular patrolling has also been increased around his farmhouse. Not only that, the cyber cell department has been roped in to find out the person who had posted the deplorable comments.
“Frequency of patrolling near Dhoni’s farmhouse has been increased. We are keeping a close watch on the movement of suspicious elements near the house. In addition to that a squad has also been kept reserve at a certain distance from his farmhouse to deal with any exigency,” said Rural SP Naushad Alam was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
“A number of static force, which already was deployed in and around his farmhouse, has also been increased,” he added.
The incident is being widely criticised with fans as well as cricketers slamming the trolls for their comments. Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Vice President has also criticised the incident and called it unfortunate while demanding strict action against the culprits.
“Cricket should only be seen as a medium of entertainment, but people are going beyond it, keeping others modesty on stake. This is really unfortunate,” said JSCA Vice President Ajay Nath Shahdeo.
