MS Dhoni has been an illustrious captain and his records speak for himself. IPL 2020, however, was different. Dhoni failed to lead CSK in the IPL 2020 playoffs as they were knocked out of the tournament after defending champions Mumbai Indians outclassed them by 10 wickets on Friday.
Asked to bat, CSK batting line-up registered a collapse as they were 71/8 before English all-rounder Sam Curran held the fort for his side and notched up a half-century. His 47-ball 52 runs knock was laced with four boundaries and two hits over the fence. Imran Tahir who remained unbeaten on 13 runs played a perfect second fiddle to him.
In return, Mumbai Indians openers Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock chased down the partly total in 13 overs without breaking a sweat.
Captain really can’t run away so definitely I will play: MS Dhoni
Dhoni once again showed that he takes responsibility of the side after commentator Mark Nicholas asked him if he will play remainder of the games. The former India captain said that as the leader of the side he cannot run away from the game so he will play all the matches.
“I’d like you to play all rest of the games, because i want to see a scintillating innings, a nice 50 or 60 for us to entertain everybody would be perfect,” Mark Nicholas asked.
“You know captain really can’t run away so definitely i will play in all the games. Hopefully that things gets broken, so that’s the thing,” MS Dhoni responded.
Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.
All the success has made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he is on the field.
