The classy all-rounder from Mumbai, Abhishek Nayar is all set to start a new inning in his career. Nayar gave his green signal to join Puducherry as the outstation player after rejecting the head coach offer earlier on.

Abhishek was asked to be the coach-cum-player for Puducherry. However, he wasn’t interested in taking up the dual role instead opted to play as the player. Meanwhile, Puducherry is making their debut in the Ranji Trophy season this year.

Though he got fewer matches to showcase his skills in the blue jersey, Abhishek Nayar turned out as a legendary figure in the domestic circuit. He attained many glorious feats during his stint with Mumbai in Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, expressing his views on leaving out of his former state, he tweeted saying that Mumbai is always greater than Puducherry and thanked them for helping him turn out to be a good player. Unfortunately, Nayar will be leaving with 99 first-class games for Mumbai.

”MUMBAI >>>PUDUCHERRY…thank you, everyone who has helped me and been part of this wonderful 20 years of Khadoos cricket, right from the u14s to 99firstclass games..it’s been an honour. It’s an emotional moment for me, but I leave a happy man. the lion shall always roar in my love,” he said.

Meanwhile, another legendary figure in Mumbai cricket, Avishkar Salvi will be giving his coaching hand to Puducherry. The newbie in the domestic circuit is trying their best to get the talented staff and senior players on their side.

Barring Abhishek Nayar, the other domestic player to get involved as the outstation player for Mumbai is Paras Dogra. He was the vital cog for Himachal Pradesh in his career so far with them.

“I initially wanted J. Arun Kumar as coach. But he was not interested in a role that demanded six months of commitment. He was keener on shorter assignments. Then, I decided on Salvi. I know him personally and he has a smart cricketing brain. He can get things done. And he has featured in Ranji Trophy triumphs for Mumbai. It brings with him the tough and uncompromising Mumbai approach,” said Damodaran on coach Salvi’s appointment.
