Former India spinner Murali Kartik has expressed his disappointment over Bengal star Manoj Tiwary going unsold in the recently-concluded IPL auction. Manoj Tiwary has been one of the most consistent batsmen in domestic circuit for more than a decade now but has not really managed to attract IPL franchises in recent years.

Manoj Tiwary is one of those unlucky cricketers who did not really get the reward for working hard in domestic circuit. His international career is known to one and all. The right-handed batsman was mysteriously dropped from the team for months right after he scored his maiden ODI hundred. That was not the first time, he received a setback in his career.

Days before his scheduled ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2007, the Bengal cricketer injured his shoulder and was sidelined from the schedule. He then made his debut in 2008 and was bowled by Brett Lee for just 2. Tiwary had to wait nearly three years for his second match in the 50-over format. The Bengal star has not played for India since 2015 and is unlikely to don the national jersey again.

And lucks seems to have deserted in IPL too. He missed the last edition too and has gone unsold in the just-concluded auction as well. And the turn of events have left Murali Kartik shocked who took to Twitter to express his feelings.

“I dont tweet a lot, this is somewhat late since the auctions were a few days ago,but can’t understand how players like @tiwarymanoj not be picked, these are guys who have given everything for the franchise they played for.other players who come to mind @s_badrinath & @pragyanojha,” wrote the ex-spinner.

Manoj Tiwary in IPL:

Manoj Tiwary was an integral part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team that won the IPL in 2012. In 2017, the batsman had played a key role in Rising Pune Supergiant’s run to the final. He scored 324 runs, including two half-centuries, in 15-matches for the Steve Smith-led, now-defunct side. But in 2018, he managed  only 47 runs from five matches for Kings XI Punjab and has not played in the tournament since then. Overall, in 98 IPL matches, he has scored 1,695 runs.
