Former Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has revealed that shed light on batting techniques and how hitting the sweet spot of the bat could change a player’s mindset. Sachin Tendulkar, the most-capped player in Tests and ODIs, knows a thing or two about the same since he has overcome several rough patches on the path to greatness. The 47-year old pointed out the ball striking the middle of the bat could alter any batsman’s psychology.

In the first Test against India in Adelaide, Australia opener Joe Burns revealed that a pull shot off Umesh Yadav’s bowling to the square leg boundary region got him the much-needed confidence. Burns went on to play a potentially career-changing fifty that scripted Australia’s eight-wicket win and gave them a series lead in the four-match rubber. The Queensland opener notched up an unbeaten half-century.

Sachin Tendulkar seconded Joe Burns’ opinion of that one shot changing a batsman’s mindset. The 200-Test veteran said that when a batsman hears the crisp sound off the bat, he starts thinking differently and that results in the body moving positively too.

“I understand exactly what Joe Burns is talking about, that one particular shot which changes your thinking. Sound becomes a foundation, you hear the sound when you’ve middled the ball, you start thinking differently because it’s a beautiful crisp sound. And because of that, the body is moving more positively,” Tendulkar said in a video posted on his Twitter handle.

Sachin Tendulkar added that the positivity starts with the sound and a good batsman will hear that when confident. Tendulkar claimed that it changes the player’s approach, mindset, footwork, and only positive energy flows through the entire body.

“It’s a chain. It starts from the sound. Sound is the confidence to me. A good batter will always hear that sound when he’s confident. It changes your thinking, your approach, your body movement, the fluidity in your body. That positive energy flowing in your body,” he added.
