Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have appointed Mike Hesson as their director for cricket. While there was a buzz about removing Kohli as the skipper in the next season, Hesson has ruled out all those speculations.
Bangalore skipper has struggled to replicate his success as India captain with his IPL side. RCB are one of the only few teams who have not won the prestigious trophy as of yet. More so, Bangalore have consistently struggled in the last few seasons despite having a strong squad.
As the preparations for another season has kick-started, there were speculations from certain sections to remove Virat Kohli from the helm of things. The buzz only grew stronger as the franchise revamped their coaching panel ahead of the new edition.

But Mike Hesson, who has joined RCB as the director of cricket has squashed all those reports. He even disagreed with the viewpoint that Kohli controls things in the RCB camp.
“We don’t have that perception that Virat controls things. But may be he has had his learnings from the past (mistakes) while moving forward. There has been no question mark over Virat’s captaincy during last couple of weeks (of discussions),” Hesson said. “…we have been very much aligned and he has been more than happy to take our advice from our experience,” he added.
Furthermore, Mike Hesson has stressed on building a strong squad for the next season. He also said their main focus is on the 2020 season and not anything else. Hesson also clearly stated his plans that all the cricketers will play a significant role and the preparation will start once the auction gets over and not one week ahead of the start of the season.
